Today, passengers on Iberia’s flight to Bogotá, which took off from Madrid at 12:30, had a big surprise in store: on each of their seats they found an official t-shirt from one of the 20 LALIGA teams.

And Joaquín, the LALIGA ambassador, encouraged them to exchange shirts, as happens on the playing field: “Ladies and gentlemen, good morning! Who could imagine that today you were going to have me on the other end of the intercom?… On this flight we want to celebrate with all of you the alliance of Iberia and LALIGA by gifting you official t-shirts from all the clubs, to share our football and the Spain brand with Latin America. As good travel companions, I invite you to swap t-shirts…!”

This action is part of the sponsorship agreement between Iberia and LALIGA for Latin America, and will bring the best of entertainment, culture, and fun to thousands of fans in this region, which is strategic for both organisations.

Several activations, events and contents are included within this sponsorship agreement for this season, so that fans throughout Latin America can enjoy all the excitement of LALIGA along with Iberia.

The collaboration agreement coincides with a very relevant moment for both companies. Iberia is placing its main strategic focus on Latin America, a region in which it operates 18 destinations in 16 countries, and where it is achieving record flight numbers. For its part, LALIGA celebrates a new era with a transformation at the level of strategy, positioning, brand, technology, and audiovisual broadcasts.

Two Brands at the Head of Brand Finance

The collaboration between both companies also coincides with the brand recognition awarded to Iberia and LALIGA. Both companies have been recognised by Brand Finance, an international consultancy that calculates the value and Brand Strength Index of major companies and organisations.

In 2023, LaLiga not only remained one of the 50 most valuable organisations in the Spanish ranking, but it is also the one with the highest brand value in the sports industry field in this edition, and has reached its highest historic value in the Brand Finance Spain 100 ranking.

According to this same consultancy, Iberia is also the most valuable brand related to the tourism sector in Spain. According to this classification, which assesses the brand of companies in the country and its contribution to the business itself, Iberia is ranked 22nd in the general ranking this year, with an improvement of 10 positions compared to 2022, which represents, in turn, one of the most positive evolutions in the ranking.∆
